This summer, Saueaugu Theatre Farm celebrates its 25th anniversary. Saueaugu is located in the village of Ohtla in Läänemaa, a village that for centuries marked the outermost settlement of Kullamaa Parish, bordering Martna Parish. In later and more secular times, whether under municipal administration, the collective farm system, the village council, or once again municipal government, the people of Ohtla have generally looked more toward Martna. For this reason, the decision came naturally that this summer Saueaugu Theatre Farm would step beyond its timber walls and into the vaulted churches of both Kullamaa (15 August) and Martna (16 August), where local residents and friends can gather to enjoy beautiful Estonian choral music performed by the chamber choir Collegium Musicale.

The programmes for the two concerts are different. Audiences will hear works by both Arvo Pärt and Veljo Tormis, while the Kullamaa concert will also feature compositions by Rudolf Tobias, and the Martna concert will include songs by the young composer Pärt Uusberg set to texts by the Läänemaa poet Ernst Enno.

Collegium Musicale was founded in 2010. From its very first performances, the ensemble has demonstrated that a professional approach, high artistic standards, and a deep respect for Estonian music can thrive outside institutional frameworks. Notably, the choir’s founder and conductor, Endrik Üksvärav, is a native of Läänemaa, having been born and educated in Lihula.
