Ten years. Hundreds of rehearsals. Dozens of concerts. Competition victories, premieres, tours, grand stages, and small unforgettable moments. Above all, people and music to return to again and again.

Chamber Choir Encore celebrates its 10th anniversary with the grand concert “Oota mind veel” on 14 November at 7:00 PM at Viimsi Artium.

The anniversary concert is divided into two parts, each looking at Encore’s story from a different perspective.

Part I – “Coming Home”

The program features Tõnu Kõrvits’ Miikaeli laulud (Songs of Michael), Lembit Veevo’s Kadakad (Junipers), Veljo Tormis’ Kuulmata kuskil kumiseb kodu (Somewhere Unheard, Home Resounds), and a new work composed by our conductor Karin Tuul.

These are stories about home and roots, but also about journeys and longing.

Part II – “Nostalgia”

Time to celebrate!

Accompanied by the band Dance-o-Phones, the choir’s ensembles and soloists will take the stage.

The concert will feature hits made famous by Tõnis Mägi, Els Himma, Marju Kuut, Ivo Linna, Heidy Tamme, Jaak Joala, Jaan Tätte, and Marten Kuningas.

These retro classics come either from the childhood memories of Encore’s members or hold a special place in their hearts for other reasons. Encore’s very first joint undertaking was participation in a choir competition organized in connection with Eesti Laul, where we recorded our own version of Marten Kuningas and Mahavok’s song “Oota mind veel” (“Wait for Me Still”). At the same time, no choir gathering feels complete without Jaan Tätte’s beloved hit “Silveri laul” (“Silver’s Song”).
