VHK String Orchestra was founded in 1996 and mainly focused on performing Estonian music. During the past 6 years time, the youth orchestra has performed music by Estonian composers Ester Mägi, Cyrillus Kreeg, Mart Saare, Veljo Tormis, Tõnu Kõrvits, Arvo Pärt and Erkki-Sven Tüür in more than 200 concerts in small Estonian villages, towns, and larger cities.
The new album consitis of 9 Tormis compositions arranged and conducted by Rasmus Puur and performed by soprano Maria Listra, violinist Arp Reindla, and the string orchestra. The recording took place in Vastseliina Church with sound directors Nikita Šiškov and Haar Tammik. Mauno Meesit is the designer of the artwork.
