Tartu Students' Mixed Choir’s Concert Production “Song of a Level Land”
Dedicated to the choir’s 120th anniversary and the Year of the Estonian Book

On stage: Tartu Students' Mixed Choir, conductors Küllike Joosing and Liis Rull, actors Maarja Jakobson, Siim Angerpikk, and Ats Aavakivi (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Department of Drama), the academic punk band Karju Lauristin, and others
Director: Külli Aavakivi
Lighting and sound: Taavi Toom

The concert production “Song of a Level Land” brings the audience glimpses of Estonian life and beauty, painted in pastel shades, contrasted by brighter tones. Here are exalted springs and perforated autumn skies, dream-yellow evenings and suffocatingly oppressive days, faith and doubt, memories and expectations, nature miniatures and street sketches. There is classical music and punk, words and music from centuries past and from today. There is beauty, and a little pain. To preserve balance.

Programme: music by Eduard Tubin, Veljo Tormis, Andres Vahisalu, Märt Ratassepp, Tõnu Kõrvits, Mari Amor, Mariliis Valkonen, Maria Kõrvits, Rasmus Puur, and Kristo Klaus (premiere), with texts by Anna Haava, Henrik Visnapuu, Betti Alver, Artur Alliksaar, Ellen Niit, Hando Runnel, Paul-Eerik Rummo, Viivi Luik, Doris Kareva, Triin Soomets, Mathura, and Riste Sofie Kääri.
