Tormis' Laulusumm is a choir rehearsal and singing evening where, under the guidance of Celia Roose, we sing traditional songs that Tormis collected from the song heritage of his ancestors. We then learn the composer’s arrangements of the same songs.
We will also recall vivid moments from Tormis' life.
Celia Roose, a singer, choir director, and folk music teacher, has organized several Laulusumm events, always accompanied by lively interest. Tormis' songs have been sung at the Laulusumm events in the composer’s birthplace Kõrveaia, Kaikamäe, Viljandi Folk Music Festival, Pärnu, Tartu, Tallinn, Hiiu Folk, and the New York Estonian Cultural Days.
Laulusumm is also open to everyone: friends, choir singers, and those interested in Tormis' works.
The event is supported by the Estonian Cultural Endowment.
