The concernt named "Raudvara" performed by the University of Tartu Chamber Choir and Academic Women's Choir's joint concert on 12th of May is happening in the University of Tarty auditorium at 20.00.
The choir's are led by a dirigent Triin Koch.
This performance is to signify the passing of 50 years since the premiere of Veljo Tormis'es composition of "Raua needmine" in the University of Tartu auditorium.
The main star of the concernt is the introductory sections from the "Raua needmine" composition (made by August Annist, Paul-Eerik Rummo ja Jaan Kaplinski) and memories of Veljo Tormis. The texts are presented by Katrin Pärn. The composition is performed by the UT Chamber Choir and Academic Women's Choir jointly.
The first performance of Veljo Tormis'es "Raua needmine" happened on 1973 on 6th of May in the Univeristy of Tartu auditorium in a conernt called "Veljo Tormis ja rahvalaul (Veljo Tormis and folk song). This performance was carried out by the Tallinn Chamber Choir and conductor Arvo Ratassepp, accompanied by Veljo Tormis himself on a shaman's drum.
In addition to Veljo Tormis'es "Raua needmine" the coirs will also perform other core pieces of composition from the Estonian music. Among others, one can hear creation from Veljo Tormis, Mart Saar, Lembit Veevo, Ester Mägi and Erkki-Sven Tüür.
Tickets with prices 15/17€ are sold in Fientas and onsidte 30 min before the start of the concernt.
