On 11-13 October 2024, the III Tallinn Youth Choirs Festival "Children's choirs' Journey to the Song Festival" will take place with the participation of 28 choirs with nearly 800 singers from all over Estonia.
The festival is one of Tallinn's top choir events as a UNESCO City of Music, having been held for the first time in 2022, and has hosted both girls' choirs and mixed choirs to date. The third festival will bring children's choirs into the spotlight, as keeping them numerous and vibrant is key to creating our future generations of choral singers. Working with the choirs at the festival will be Kadi Härma, Aarne Saluveer, Mai Simson and Silja Uhs, conductors of the Song Festival's children's choirs. Vocal accompanists Triin Ella, Karis Trass, Kaia Urb and Egle Veltmann will lead the singing, while Kaja Täht will provide the rhythm.
"I believe that this collective singing will give a nice boost to the Song Festival. This time we will only practice the songs that will be sung at the Song Festival - the four types of songs (Tormis, Kaljuste, Koikson, Külama) as well as the songs of the combined choir," said Silja Uhs.
