One of the most famous Estonian music ensembles in the world, the winner of two Grammy Awards, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, will present to the audience in January a delicate program of choral music, “ A Winter Journey”, which offers the beauty of sound and peace of mind. The music takes the audience on a journey from autumn through winter to spring. But it is not only a journey through the seasons, but also a spiritual journey from darkness to hope and light.
The esteemed Finnish choirmaster, the principal conductor of the top Canadian choir Vancouver Chamber Choir, Kari Turunen, who has given concerts in many parts of the world, has selected works that are both well-known and worth discovering for the exciting program.
While moments of recognition can be experienced in a fresh interpretation in the music of Veljo Tormis and Francis Poulenc, new discoveries, beautiful compositions and the joy of discovery are offered by Canadian composer Laura Hawley, Finnish-Canadian author Matthew Whittall and American Alex Freeman, whose music has rarely been performed in Estonia.
Discover and enjoy captivating choral music in a masterful and sensitive performance that brings brightness to the soul and rest to the spirit!
