The days are getting longer, spring is gaining strength, and in the middle of the month come the Easter holidays—a time for reflection and introspection. At the end of the first week of April, music suitable for the pre-Easter season will be performed by the VHK String Orchestra, Theodor Sink, and conductor Rasmus Puur. The program includes works by Tõnu Kõrvits, Veljo Tormis, Cyrillus Kreek, Rudolf Tobias, Dobrinka Tabakova, Ernest Bloch, Vladimir Martynov, Samuel Barber, John Tavener, Valentyn Silvestrov, Henry Purcell, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Theodor Sink is a versatile performer who works as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Since 2017, he has been the principal cellist of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, Theodor has performed with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian Festival Orchestra, the Pärnu City Orchestra, Sinfonietta Rīga, and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. He plays a cello made by Auguste Sébastien Bernardel (Père) in 1842, which has been provided to him by the Estonian Foundation of Musical Instruments. The instrument is owned by Aare Kaarma.

The VHK String Orchestra is a 26-member ensemble made up of students from the music school of the Old Town Educational College (Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium), founded in 1996. The young musicians, aged 14 to 20, perform a repertoire consisting almost entirely of Estonian music—from Rudolf Tobias, Cyrillus Kreek, and Mart Saar to Tõnu Kõrvits, Arvo Pärt, and Erkki-Sven Tüür. The orchestra gives around 40 performances each season across Estonia. It has collaborated with many inspiring musicians from various genres, including Ain Anger, Hans Christian Aavik, Maria Listra, Harry Traksmann, Robert Traksmann, Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann, the Estonian National Male Choir, Estonian Voices, Kadri Voorand, Liisi Koikson, Mari Jürjens, Karmen Rõivassepp, Vaiko Eplik, Priit Võigemast, and others.

Tickets priced at €10/15/20 are available at Piletikeskus and at the venue.
