Presented by the students, faculty, and alumni of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre’s (EAMT) Traditional Music Department, the concert features Estonian and Finnic songs, instrumental tunes from Kuusalu, Tormis’s film music, and new original works inspired by the composer. Storytelling adds a special color to the evening – including the tale of what really happened during the filming of Spring (Kevade) with Imelik’s kannel.

Veljo Tormis played a significant role in establishing the Traditional Music Department at EAMT, which opened in 2007. The concert is both a tribute to the composer and an encounter with his music and its folk roots.
