
MUBA Symphony Orchestra Concert
Just before the season of Christmas and inner light, the MUBA Symphony Orchestra presents a program celebrating the works of renowned Estonian composers marking milestone anniversaries.
VELJO TORMIS 95 – The concert features a suite from the chamber opera “Swan's Flight” performed together with the MUBA Girls’ Choir, as well as the rarely heard piece “Little Symphony” (Hommage à Joseph Haydn). The Girls’ Choir will also perform Tormis’ a cappella choral works * “The Singer's Childhood"and four parts from the cycle “Eight Estonian Lyric Folk Songs.*"
LEPO SUMERA 75 – We present the witty, angular, and energetically charged first movement of Sumera’s “Music for Chamber Orchestra.”
EINO TAMBERG 95 – The orchestra will play the first movement of the legendary Concerto Grosso, filled with youthful joy. Soloists in Tamberg’s Concerto Grosso include Minna Emilia Vürst (flute), Loone Krigul (bassoon), Zana Paalberg (clarinet), Caspar Kiis (saxophone), Jan Marius Laur (trumpet), and Kärt Mikalai (piano).
ARVO PÄRT 90 – The Girls’ Choir will perform the four-part a cappella choral piece “Peace upon you, Jerusalem”, inspired by the joy of pilgrimage.
Conductors: Valle-Rasmus Roots leads the MUBA Symphony Orchestra, and Ingrid Kõrvits conducts the Girls' Choir.
The concert will be performed without intermission.
