Respect for the folk song and its in-depth knowledge were reflected in Tormis's compositions and written works, public appearances at large conferences and performances in smaller groups, professional or recreational choir rehearsals. At the exhibition, we take a look at how Tormis came to the folk song and used it in his work, how he interpreted the folk song and shared it with others. The focus is on the composer's star works, which have brought him attention at home and abroad.

On the 90th anniversary of Tormis's birth, it is appropriate to ask ourselves, following the example of musicologist Urve Lippus: "Instead of finally confirming that Tormis is one of the most outstanding, I would suggest for a moment to think about what our current song repertoire would be like if Tormis's songs suddenly disappeared from there. How would you like it?'
